Poor Little Hayden

Hayden survived her first laser surgery for her hemangioma yesterday morning.  We had to be at Children's at 6:00am for her 8:00 surgery.  She was so good!  She just played and laughed the whole time we waited.  They asked about 200 questions, took all of her vital signs, and put her in the cutest little scrubs I have ever seen.  The nurses were all so great and they all loved Hayden. All of the other kids that were there for the laser surgeries were rolled in their beds down to the OR, but the nurse wanted to carry Hayden down.  They laughed and talked all the way down the hall, and stopped to say hi to everyone.  Thats when I lost it! :)  But, the surgery went by so fast. She was pretty upset when she got out, but she relaxed after a little while.

Her poor little eye is completely swollen shut.  At first, she was pretty confused and kept trying to rub it.  But, now she is getting used to it.  She looks so pitiful!!!  I won't post any pictures, because it is pretty scary looking right now.  Maybe when the swelling goes down a little I will take some.

Thank you everyone for your sweet text messages, voicemails, and FB messages.  It meant a lot to know that you were praying for Hayden and thinking about us!!

December

I can't believe Hayden is already 8 months old!!!  She is the happiest, sweetest little girl!  She is sitting up and sooo close to crawling.  She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth.  She has mastered the art of the army crawl so that she can get to what she wants.  She is eating lots of solid foods....she loves applesauce and bananas!  She talks all day long and loves to sing.  She smiles and laughs at everyone...no one is a stranger to her.  All of the people at Target and the grocery store now know her by name.  Here is a recap of our month.......

We have been getting together with some of my friends for a playdate.  It is so much fun to have some adult conversation and watch all of the kids play together.  So far, the girls really outnumber the boys 4 to 1!

Isaac, Mia, Hayden, Isabel, and Nora

First trip to the ER

We have officially made our first trip to the ER with Hayden.  And if she is anything like her Mommy, it will be the first of many!!  Hayden woke up at 4:00am and was just barely crying in her crib.  I watched her on the monitor for a minute and I saw her throw up.  I went in there, cleaned it up, and she went back to sleep.  I thought she just had a little tummy ache.  She woke up again at 5:30 throwing up a lot more.  She couldn't breathe and wasn't very responsive.  She would just cough and cry and throw up.  It was the saddest thing I have ever seen!  And, it was really scary!!!  I called the on-call nurse and she said to take her to the ER to have her checked out and make sure she wasn't dehydrated.

Of course, as soon as the Dr. walked in, Hayden started smiling and laughing.  I'm sure he was thinking, "why is this child here?" But, then they gave her an anti-nausea medicine and she threw up everywhere.  They did a chest x-ray and everything looked fine.  He said that it wasn't an allergic reaction, but it was probably just a really bad virus.  So, luckily we left with some Pedialyte and a sleepy baby.

She is doing much better now.  She has slept most of the day, but she is happy and smiley and back to her perfect little self!!
